Accessibility Statement
This statement was last updated on January 2026.
At WhileWeWait, I am committed to making this website accessible to everyone.
I know from personal experience that navigating pregnancy loss can come with brain fog, exhaustion, and overwhelm. The last thing you need is a website that is hard to read, difficult to use, or full of unexpected triggers. My goal is to ensure this space is a "soft landing" for everyone, regardless of ability or technology.
My Commitment
I aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at the AA level. This is the international standard for accessible websites and is the benchmark for complying with the UK Equality Act 2010.
How I Make This Site Accessible
Here are some of the specific steps I have taken to make WhileWeWait easier to use:
-
Emotional Accessibility: I use clear "Content Notes" (CN) at the top of sensitive posts so you can choose whether to engage.
-
Visual Clarity: I use high-contrast colours (charcoal text on soft sand backgrounds) and clear, legible fonts to reduce eye strain.
-
Plain English: I avoid complex medical jargon where possible, or explain it clearly in the "Gentle Glossary," to help with cognitive load.
-
Screen Readers: I aim to provide descriptive "Alt Text" for images so that visitors using screen readers can understand the visual content.
-
Captions: My goal is to ensure all video content (Reels and TikToks embedded here) includes open captions or subtitles.
Compliance Status
This website is partially compliant with the WCAG 2.1 AA standard.
I am a small team (just me!), and while I try my best, there may be some areas that are not yet fully accessible:
-
Some older PDF resources may not yet be fully tagged for screen readers.
-
Some third-party tools (like booking forms or social media feeds) may have limitations outside of my control.
Feedback and Contact Information
I am always learning and looking to improve. If you find any problems not listed on this page, or if you think I’m not meeting accessibility requirements, please contact me.
If you need information on this website in a different format (like an accessible PDF, large print, or audio recording), please let me know and I will do my best to help.

Enforcement Procedure
The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) is responsible for enforcing the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018 (the regulations that set the standard for the UK). If you’re not happy with how I respond to your complaint, you can contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS).
